150 OGUN WORKERS UNDERGO EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION TRAINING

  As part of efforts to maximise the opportunities brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ogun State Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment has trained 150 Commercial and Trade Officers, to be more proficient in relating with relevant stakeholders and effectively communicate government policies.

Commissioner in the Ministry, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe, while declaring open the three-day training programme with the theme, ‘Quality Service Delivery, Relationship Management and Effective Communication: Panacea for Revenue Generation’ in Abeokuta, said the fast-changing nature of the world with myriads of challenges has made the training expedient.

Longe emphasised the need for Commercial and Trade Officers to improve on service delivery and meet the State’s revenue target for the year, in a new normal era brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, so as to further enjoy more support of stakeholders in the 'Building our Future Together' agenda, especially at the present economically-challenging time.

“The present challenge the entire globe is facing is COVID-19 which has changed the way things are done all over the world. With this new normal, everybody is trying to return to the new realities, we can’t afford to be left behind in Ogun and this is why I want to appreciate Governor Dapo Abiodun for granting approvals and allocating resources to help improve the capacity of Commercial and Trade Officers, towards improving service delivery and increasing revenue generation”, she said.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola said the Ministry has put in place appropriate mechanism to evaluate the impact of the training on participants' performance.

Aikulola charged them to utilise knowledge to be gained to aid the growth of the Ministry, and use the opportunity to sharpen their skills for personal development and improvement.

Speaking on behalf of other participants, Mrs. Esther Maku and Mr. Quadri Ibrahim lauded the Ministry for the training, promising to use the knowledge gained to improve their performances.
