Owners of businesses operating in Ogun State have been urged to take advantage of the wide platform of the forthcoming 10th Gateway International Trade Fair and the State Investment Summit to showcase their products to local and foreign participants.
The State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe made the call during an inspection tour to Tulip Cocoa Processing Limited, Ijebu-Mushin and Infinity Snacks and Beverages Limited, Ijebu-Ode.
Mrs. Longe said the Trade Fair which holds between April 2 and 12, 2021 would enable businesses, especially Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to showcase their products to a wider audience, assuring that the government has put machinery in motion to ensure a successful hosting of the event.
On the Ogun State Investment Summit scheduled for May 2021, the Commissioner noted that the event would enable local and foreign investors identify untapped investment opportunities available in the State.
"Part of the policies and programmes this administration has put in place to make Ogun State the industrial destination of choice for investors are the forthcoming Gateway International Trade Fair and Ogun State Investment Summit. These programmes are going to be bigger than previous years with lots of benefits for participants", she said.
The Commissioner who commended the management of the two companies for their contributions to the economy of the State, affirmed that government was willing to assist in the area of local sourcing of raw materials, energy, waste management, as well as other relevant issues.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola lauded the companies for creating jobs through their investments, calling on them to seize the opportunity of the vast arable land available in the State, to also engage in backward integration and promote import substitution.
Speaking earlier, the Managing Director, Tulip Cocoa Processing Limited, Mr. Johannes Van der Merwe said the company has engaged about 25,000 farmers across the country, appealing to the government to assist in addressing issues on waste management, power and multiple taxation.
In his contribution, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Infinity Snacks and Beverages Limited, Ijebu-Ode, Mr. Mohan khaki guaranteed his company's participation at the State Trade Fair.
