The Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative of Ogun State Government has continued to attract the support of donors, as an equipped maternity centre and a functional borehole have been donated to Oke-Ife community in the Ijebu East Local Government Area of the State.
In recent time, the PPP initiative of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration in the State has witnessed tremendous support from well-meaning individuals and organisations in major sectors of the State’s economy, such as Education, Health, Empowerment and Employment Generation, among others.
Speaking while taking delivery of the facilities from the donor, the Adekoga family in Ijebu-Ife, Governor Dapo Abiodun said his government needs the support and cooperation of everyone in all aspect of governance, to create a better and comfortable living for the citizens in the urban and the rural areas.
Represented by his Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, Governor Abiodun said the commitment of philanthropists and organisations to the progress of the State is commendable, noting that the gesture would go a long way in improving the health status of the people of Ijebu Ife and its environs.
“I am excited to take delivery of these facilities donated by the Adekoga Family, as it will serve many and improve the wellbeing of the people, particularly mothers and children. I appreciate the donor and assure you that this will be put into good use”, the Governor said.
Earlier in his address, the Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Callistus Falujo, enjoined the people to ensure proper maintenance of the facilities, protect it from vandalism, saying proper usage would attract more donors.
In his remarks, the Ajalorun of Ijebu-Ife, Oba Adesesan Oguntayo, urged members of the community both home and in diaspora to emulate the gesture, as the community needed more developmental projects that could give the town a face lift.
Responding, the representative of the donor, Prince Bamidele Adekoga said the effort was borne out of the determination to execute their late father’s desire to build a maternity centre for the community, adding that the project would bring health care closer to the people.
