2021 BUDGET: OGUN GOVT DOUBLES EFFORTS ON EVALUATING IMPLEMENTATION

  The Ogun State Government is introducing a result-based management approach, as a method for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of the 2021 budget and 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).


Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan made this known during a sensitisation meeting organised for Directors of Planning, Research and Statistics, as well as Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officers in MDAs, towards identifying challenges and harnessing opportunities available for the successful implementation of the budget and framework.

Mr. Olabimtan, represented by the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr. David Onigbinde said the development would enable projects, programmes and policies of government in MDAs to be in tandem with the expected outcomes, outputs and impacts on people across the nooks and crannies of the State, adding that the sensitisation would assist the MDAs conduct a Training-Need Analysis (TNA) for the M&E officers, to deliver their job efficiently.  

Speaking, a specialist and reformer on Monitoring and Evaluation, Dr. Hendrix Odigie, stated that monitoring and evaluation are essential in achieving government’s set objectives to ensure value for money on all its projects and programmes.

Dr. Odigie who highlighted the importance of Result-Based Management in M&E, said it would help improve quality of the ongoing and future programmes in the State.
