2021 BUDGET: OGUN STRENGTHENS PROJECT MONITORING PROCESS
As part of effort to ensure that projects and programmes captured in the 2021 Budget and 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) have direct impact and outcomes on people’s standard of living, the Ogun State Government has initiated a review of the State Policy on Monitoring and Evaluation.
Speaking at a strategic meeting to review the draft of the State policy, the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist for the Ogun State Economic Transformation Programme (OGSTEP), Dr. Hendrix Odigie said the step was borne out of government’s resolve to guarantee result-based financing to improve business enabling environment.
Odigie maintained that the policy would provide a foundation for government to enhance the M&E processes and procedures on data gathering and reportage, in order to promote public accountability and learning for improved performance.
“The policy when fully implemented will improve monitoring activities of Ministries, Departments and Agencies, to ensure that the process generate specific and timely information regarding the performance of the State Government for policy makers and other decision makers”, the specialist added.
On his part, the Director, State M&E, Mr. David Onigbinde said stakeholders at the meeting were drawn from the State Sectoral Technical Working Committee to achieve a holistic review of the State M&E policy and get their buy-in into the exercise for proper guidance on the principles of improving governance, promoting development, partnership and participation.
