 The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has said his administration will continue to put in place appropriate policies and programmes, towards providing more efficient healthcare services for the people to ensure healthy living.


Governor Abiodun who gave this assurance at the commissioning of the Rotary Cancer Center at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, added that several feats of his administration in the health sector lays credence to this position.

Represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the Governor noted that the humanitarian predisposition of the Rotary Club International to the plight of the people on their need assessment was in tandem with 'Building our Future Together’ agenda of the government.

He affirmed that government would continue to welcome contributions and partnerships with the Club and other donor agencies, to further bring about development and succour to the less privileged in the society.

"As I enjoin Rotary Club International to continue with its good work of selfless service to humanity, I can assure you that our administration will continue to support the implementation of your laudable people-oriented programmes", Abiodun said.

In her welcome address, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, said the gesture by the Club was the first Prostate Cancer Centre in the State, assuring that the State government would not hesitate to support philanthropists and other public-spirited organisations who were willing to partner with the government.

In her remarks, the acting Chief Medical Director, OOUTH Dr. Bunmi Fatungase, appreciated Rotary District 9110 for its effort, saying provision of the Center would help in the treatment and reduction of prostate cancer in the society.

Contributing, Rotary District 9110 Governor, Mr. Bola Oyebade, appreciated the State government and management of OOUTH for providing the enabling environment, charging the management of the hospital on proper maintenance.

Also speaking the Akarigbo of Remoland, HRM, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, said the issue of prostate cancer could not be ignored, noting that the establishment of the Centre indicates the beginning of eradicating prostate cancer in Remoland, Ogun and Nigeria at large.
