Form the details news reports show that what seems to many Local and National political players as a perfected plan by the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, in his bid to become the Governor of Lagos State replacing the current Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been revealed.

Strong sources within Lagos Political quarters have received intelligence report of Gbajabiamila’s plans into the Lagos number one seat in 2023, through the upcoming LGA elections by sponsoring many candidates in several Local Governments and also planning to impose others. The sources stated that the Speaker also lobbied his way into the Governor Advisory Council as a ‘Plan B’ if his plan to become to Governor of Lagos fails.

The 2023 Political Game has begun in earnest for Mr Gbajabiamila. The first major reality staring in Mr Gbajabiamila’s face is the fact that his career to becoming speaker in 2023 is hanging, as a Southern or SouthWest man becoming president might not favour him to retain the position.

In his desperation to become Governor of Lagos State in 2023, Gbajabiamila has fully relocated to Lagos State in a hotel in Ikoyi close to Bourdillon so that he could easily breeze into Asiwaju’s house once Asiwaju’s aide, who is on his pay roll, calls him that “Oga is inside now”, It is in the same hotel that he determines who get what, holding quick meetings and fast endorsements of different Local Govt across the state.

A surprise meeting was organized by Mr Gbajabiamila on the 1st of May 2021, at the Nigerian Navy Quarters, Victoria Island where Mr Gbajabiamila alongside Chairman House Committee on Defence, Hon. Babajimi Benson held meeting with several Surulere Constituency aspirants, warning them not to “spoil the 2023 plan”.

At the said meeting, Mr Gbajabiamila kept insisting and dishing out warnings to Chairmanship aspirants to step down for his preferred candidate, Mr Sulaiman Bamidele Yusuf, while Councillors will all retain their seats, in other not to spoil his 2023 plans.

It remains shocking to note why a Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives in a Democracy will hold a meeting with political aspirants at a Navy Base in Lagos Island (outside his own constituency). Is he not popular enough???

After the meeting, Mr Gbajabiamila handed over Thirty Thousand Naira (N30,000) to 110 “leaders” he selected per ward. Mr Gbajabiamila shut down several people that tried to make suggestions or say their opinions but Mr Speaker only allowed his own stooges to speak including Mr Desmond Eliiot who said boldly: “Your wish is my command”.

The Gbajabiamila 2023 Plan???

National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, after holding series of late night meetings with members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), came out to denounce Gbajabiamila’s claims that Asiwaju has given him “go ahead” to handle Surulere. Asiwaju says everybody has the right to contest even though he doesn’t mind consensus, as far as the local leadership ratifies it.

This announcement came as a rude shock to Mr Gbajabiamila, as he became uneasy and clearly uncomfortable, as he was standing beside Asiwaju as he denied endorsing anyone or stopping anyone from contesting at the Lagos House, Marina.

Asiwaju’s announcement was well received across several Local Governments in the State, as aspirants re-energized their campaigns on the streets and on media, especially Surulere LGA.

The Lagos House of Representatives Caucus headed by Hon. Dolapo Badru have been given the mandate of hijacking the local party structure of the state by getting the Mr Speaker’s loyalist into the Chairmanship Seats in some specific LGAs.

A plan that is already being carried out by Hon. James Faleke in Ikeja LGA and Ojodu LCDA, Mr Babajimi Benson in some parts of Ikorodu, Badru himself is working hard to install a core loyalist of the Gbajabiamila caucus, Mr Saheed Salawe as the Chairman of the Lagos Island East Local Council Development Area, Mr Salawe, a Surulere based politician and his supporters have publicly and privately boasted that Mr Speaker will “get the ticket” for them. Hon. Wale Raji in Epe is also working for Gbajabiamila’s future ambition.

Mr James Falake has been heard in some quarters, saying that the current Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu doesn’t call him like former Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode and he has vowed to support Mr Gbajabiamila for Governorship in 2023, with his own intention of gunning for the Lagos West Seat in 2023, or a second choice of going to Aso Rock to become ‘Chief of Staff’, when Asiwaju becomes President.

Sources from Surulere LGA have praised Asiwaju for allowing everyone to go and contest and they believe that Mr Gbajabiamila, who has been in the House of Representatives since 2003 has done enough and should allow other political aspirants to grow in the Local Government.
