BUDGET COMMISSIONER HIGHLIGHTS IMPORTANCE OF M&E IN BUDGETING
Determined to improve its budget performance, the Ogun State Government says it will re-double efforts on Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) on its projects, policies and programmes.
The Budget Commissioner, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan said this in Abeokuta during a review meeting of the 2021-2023 Medium Term Sector Strategy (MTSS) organised for Directors of Planning, Research and Statistics, as well as Accounting Officers in Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) of government in the State.
Olabimtan while clarifying that the sectoral committees could not be regarded as an ad-hoc, but a standing committee, expected to work continuously, said the MTSS is a 3-year working document.
He noted that effective monitoring and evaluation would enhance performance and promote public accountability, calling on accounting officers to be involved in decision making, as well as ensure professionalism to safeguard equitable distribution of resources allocation in the future.
On his part, the Director, Planning in the Ministry, Mr. Yemi Otunnuga reminded MDAs to always align with economic development agenda of the present administration and work towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals during budget preparation.
