Two kidnapped Kaduna Baptist church members shot dead

President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), Rev. Israel Akanji, on Sunday, said that five out of the 66 abducted worshippers of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Kakau Daji, Kaduna State, have been shot by their abductors.

It will be recalled that the 66 worshipers were kidnapped during church service on October 31, 2021.

The abductors had demanded foodstuff to feed them and warned that if the foodstuff was not provided in good time, they would have no option but to starve them to death.

Rev Akanji on Sunday, November 7, 2021, during the Annual Thanksgiving/Church Building Dedication Service of the First Baptist Church (Agape Community), Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, said the five worshippers were shot on Saturday.

He said two of those shot died instantly while the others are in critical condition at a hospital in Kaduna.

Rev Akanji said the bandits had earlier threatened to begin to kill the worshippers if the government did not call them (bandits) for a roundtable discussion.

According to him, the shooting of the five on Saturday was an attestation to the fact that the bandits were carrying out their threats, urging the government to do the needful.

He said that he has not been able to see President Muhammadu Buhari because he is still out of the country, adding that, the bandits had made their intentions known that they were no longer after money but a roundtable discussion which the Nigerian Baptist Convention cannot grant since it is not the government.
