AFCON 2021: Samuel Eto’o reacts as Tunisia eliminate Nigeria, qualify for quarter-finals
Samuel Eto’o Fils, President of the Cameroonian Football Federation, has commended Tunisia for qualifying for the quarter-final stage of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
Tunisia had defeated Nigeria’s Super Eagles 1-0 in the AFCON round of 16 on Sunday night, thanks to Youssef Msakni’s second-half goal as Alex Iwobi was shown a red card during the encounter after receiving two yellow cards.
Eto’o also congratulated Burkina Faso for qualifying for the AFCON last-18.
Burkina Faso had defeated Gabon on penalties after the match ended in a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.
Reacting, Eto’o, in a tweet via his Twitter handle, wrote: “What a day! Congratulations to Tunisia and Burkina Faso for being the first teams to make it through to the quarter-finals.
“Looking forward to tomorrow’s action.”
The AFCON round of 16 fixtures will continue on Monday.
