Abducted Catholic Priest Escapes From Kidnappers, Terrorists Kill His Colleague

One of the two Catholic church priests abducted in Kaduna State last Friday, Rev Fr Donatus Cleophas Sulaiman, has escaped his kidnappers.

However, the other priest, Rev Fr John Mark Chietnum, who was abducted alongside Rev Fr Donatus Cleophas Sulaiman, has been killed by their abductors.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, 19th July 2022, the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, said the priest was killed on the same day of his abduction (Friday, 15th July 2022), adding that his dead body had been recovered.

According to the statement by the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Rev Fr John Mark was killed on the day of his abduction, Friday, 15th July 2022, but his dead body was found on Tuesday, 19th July 2022, already decomposing.

Until Rev Fr John Mark's death, he was the CAN Chairman, Jama's Local Government Area as well as the Coordinating Chairman of CAN, Kaduna-South. He was also the Dean of Kwoi Deanery, Director of Communications in the Diocese of Kafanchan, and also the Pastor of St James Parish Fori, Jama's LGA, Kaduna State.
