One killed, another abducted in Abuja
There was pandemonium when suspected kidnappers killed one person around 8.45pm on Wednesday while trying to abduct a targeted victim in Abuja.
According to sources, the incident happened in front of Galleria Mall at No 44 Gana Street Maitama, Abuja.
A source, who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent: “At about 8.46 pm on Wednesday, our operatives at No. 44, witnessed in front of Galleria Mall, three men suspected to be kidnappers, struggling to force a man into a black Prado SUV, parked in front of No. 44 Gana Street.
“One of the boys that loiter around Maitama Mall, tried to intervene in the matter but got shot in the head by one of the suspects and died immediately.
“The suspects escaped with their victim while the body of the deceased is still on the street at the time of this report.
“We advise that clients should maintain situational awareness of their environment at all times and probably minimise their movements if possible because of the incessant attacks around Abuja metropolis.”
When contacted, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Public Relations officer, DSP Josephine Adeh confirmed the incident. He however said it was a case of robbery and not abduction.
She said investigation was ongoing on the incident.
Adeh said: “We are investigating. It is a robbery case and not kidnapping. The CP has been working round the clock to ensure that the FCT is safe and secured for everyone to go about their business”.
