LIRS STAFF APPEAL TO GOVERNOR SANWO-OLU, TINUBU, APC TO RECONSIDER 55% AND 60% AGGREGATE SCORE FOR PROMOTION

LIRS STAFF APPEAL TO GOVERNOR SANWO-OLU, TINUBU, APC TO RECONSIDER 55% AND 60% AGGREGATE SCORE FOR PROMOTION

The Lagos State Governor, His Excellency, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been admonished to give consideration to staff members scoring 55% and 60% *"aggregate score"* for promotion as against the new decision of the current crop of management of the Agency, which has seen the Agency record a mass failure in the recent Computer Based Test (CBT) promotional examination of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS).

In chats with journalists by some members of staff and state elders in Lagos, it was explained that there is a newly introduced policy by LIRS Management having spent 8-year tenure that staff of LIRS  must compulsorily attain 50% score in each of a 3-component examination (CBT, Structural Training & Appraisal) for promotion eligibility; a policy devoid of compassion; a compassion which Governor Sanwo-Olu showed them by retention for 8 years; a retention lacking in their principal, who replaced their predecessors.

Appealing to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, APC, Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, The Head of Service, Hakeem Muri Okunola to weigh into the situation and consider 55% and 60% aggregate score as against a 50% score in each of the newly introduced 3-component policy .

They explained that, before now, LIRS had always adopted the use of the total aggregate score to arrive at cut-off marks, but the use of minimum score in each component has adversely affected majority of staff who successfully scored 55% and 60% and above, but, not making up to 50% in one or two components.

In fact, we learnt that it took the "almighty intervention" of Mr Governor to reduce one of the components (CBT) from 50% to 40%, yet it's like the gimmicks of LIRS Management is beyond the ALMIGHTY GOD

"Are we then saying that, a staff who is diligent in his/her revenue drive as appraised by his/her line manager be prevented from moving to the next cadre and thus become demoralized, or which LIRS Management can convincingly score 50% in the error-related CBT questions being awarded to one of their cronies?" They asked.

We then appeal to the authority concerned to make a  reversal to the old method of  total aggregate scores as against the use of minimum score in each of the 3 components as stated hereunder by LIRS Management:

Junior Cadre

-    CBT Exam @ 40%

-    Structural Training @ 25%

-    Appraisal @ 35%

Senior Cadre

-   CBT Exam @ 40%

-    Structural Training @ 15%

-    Interview @ 10%

-    Appraisal @ 35%

While explaining that the agency has set a minimum pass mark  across the components adding that in the past, the overall aggregate of 55 percent qualifies one for promotion, as against failure of a component not minding the agreed 55 and 60 percent total score for promotion in this recent time.

"We appreciate and believe in various programs that Your Excellency has lined up for Lagosians in your 2nd term, come 2023, but we equally have to be reminded that happiness and morale of members of staff of the state internal revenue agency is key towards achieving the set target", hence, our pleading that you take a second look at this for an amicable resolution promising to further put their best to take Lagos State to an enviable position among other states.
