JUST-IN: Bandits Kill 21 In Fresh Plateau Attack

  

At least 21 persons were killed in two separate attacks launched by suspected Fulani bandits in the Bwai and Samba Villages of Mangu and Riyom Local Governments of Plateau State.

A member representing Mangu South Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Bala Fwangje, and Hon. Timothy Dantong representing Riyom State Constituency confirmed the attacks.

Fwangje while speaking to our correspondent in Jos on Wednesday said the attacks occurred at Around 11 pm, “we had a call that herdsmen came into Chisu and Bwai, this morning we confirmed the killings of 14 of my constituents while several houses destroyed, property burnt.

He condemns the incessant attacks on his Constituents from May to date which have claimed hundreds of innocent lives without provocation.

Also confirming the killings, Hon. Dantong said seven persons were killed on Tuesday night in Samba Village of Riyom Local government of the state.

“I want to confirm to you that seven persons were last night killed in Samba village in my Constituency, this evil act has continued unabated and this is sad. I am on my way now for the mass burial, the security agencies must take seriously the responsibility of protecting and safeguarding the lives of innocents in this State.

New Telegraph gathered that the incident occurred the late night of Tuesday when residents had gone to bed and the attackers stormed their communities, burning some in their homes as well as setting their properties ablaze.

The COCIN RCC Church in Bwai which is along the Mangu-Bokkos road was also burned along with houses, vehicles, and tricycles. People in the Chisu community heard sporadic gunshots and ran to the residence of their community Leader, unfortunately, the house was set on fire, and 11 burnt bodies have been picked up this morning while the search is still ongoing.e

However, the State Police Command did not confirm the incident as the Police Spokesman, DSP Alfred Alabo did not pick up his call at the time of the report.
