An early morning accident that occurred at the Ago Adura axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Saturday claimed one life.
The spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed this to our correspondent in a telephone conversation on Saturday.
Akinbiyi said the driver, who was the lone occupant of a Mercedes Benz car with number plate JJJ168JF, was said to have dozed off, leading to loss of control and eventual tumbling of the vehicle.
The impact of the tumbling was said to have led to his death.
Akinbiyi said, “A fatal road accident occurred at Ago Adura, Ewekoro Local Government Area, outward Abeokuta at about 06:55hrs which involved a Mercedes Benz with reg no.: JJJ168JF(Ash colour).
“The lone accident involved one male victim who died as a result of the crash. According to eye witness on the ground, the car driver dozed off while driving, which led to loss of control, tumbled, and crashed from inward to outward lane.”
The TRACE spokesperson disclosed further that the body of the victim was deposited at Ifo General Hospital while the vehicle was evacuated from the road to ease the movement of traffic.
He, however, urged drivers to be sure of their state of mind before embarking on any road journey to avoid needless road crashes.
