Boy Bought Phone From Me After Kidney Removal – Handset Dealer

A mobile handset dealer has told an FCT High Court that one of the children whose kidneys were removed by a hospital bought phone from him shortly after.

Abdullahi Mohammed, who runs a shop in Mararaba, Nasarawa State, testified that Oluwatobi Salmon Adedoyin came to his shop on February 20, 2023 to buy a phone of N290,000.

Being led in evidence on Thursday by prosecution counsel, Hassan Tahir Esq, the witness said he gave the boy his bank account details where the sum of N500,000 was transferred in his favour.

“I asked him why he overpaid me, and he gave me an Opay account to send the balance of N210,000 back and he left my shop,” the witness said.

National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) arraigned four staff of Alliance Hospital and Service Ltd accused Dr Christopher Otabor, Emmanuel Muyiwa Olorunlaye, Chikaodili Ugochukwu and Dr Aremu Abayomi in an 11-count charge bordering on illegal organ harvesting.

Daily Trust first exposed organ trading activities in parts of Abuja and Nasarawa State after an investigation and interviews with victims.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Tahir informed the court that he would have concluded his case but for the absence of the investigating officer, the IPO.

Similarly, defence counsel, Afam Osigwe (SAN) requested the court to shift the earlier dates beginning from May 13 that were earlier scheduled for the accelerated hearing because of his likely absence.

Consequently, Justice Kezziah Ogbonnaya adjourned the trial to May 21 and 22.
