Panic over abduction of four residents in Abuja Community
There was tension Monday night at Bmuko, a community in Dutse Baupma, Bwari Area Council of Abuja when gunmen invaded and kidnapped four residents.
One of the residents, Isah, said about 30 gunmen invaded the area about 11:50pm and went to the house of one Engineer Patrick. His wife and brother were among those kidnapped.
According to Isah, the kidnappers stormed Zone C, Road 5, shooting sporadically in the air, before breaking into Engineer Patrick’s house and abducted two persons.
He said: “When they left the engineer’s house, they divided themselves into two – one group went towards the riverside that leads to Kubwa and Bwari, while the other group went towards the hillside. The group going towards the hillside stopped at a nearby house and kidnapped a Pastor and another young man. We could not do anything, we were scared to death during the operation.”
A community leader who pleaded for anonymity said they heard gunshots few minutes to midnight, and another landlord sent them a voice note on the community platform that they were being attacked.
He said: “Our security personnel came down swiftly. We called the FCDA police station and they intervened. Even soldiers came to our rescue. However, the whole thing turned to something else as nobody was arrested.
“But the kidnappers took about four persons. The soldiers who went in search of them returned without rescuing anyone. The policemen are still searching the bush.
“We have been asking for a police outpost here in Bmuko community because this is a populated environment. Whatever is happening here is not out of the knowledge of the security architecture of the FCT.”
Spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh was yet to confirm the incident as at last night.
