Mechanic Remanded For Stealing Three Customers’ Cars
A 41-year-old mechanic named Bebe Akapo has been remanded in the correctional centre by a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State for allegedly stealing three cars.
The defendant, whose address is unknown, is being tried on two counts of felony and theft which he pleaded not guilty to the accusations.
The prosecutor, Insp Edet Ekpe, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on March 25 at No. 8 Wale Ajose Street, Abule Era, Ilogbo, Lagos.
According to Ekpe, the defendant reportedly planned with individuals who were still at large to commit a criminal, specifically stealing three cars.
“The defendant stole two Toyota Sienna space cars and one Toyota Camry car with registration number LSR 928 HE, KSF 497 EP, and SMK 373 FL belonging to Mr Bashir Qudus, Yusuf Ganiyu and Yusuf Bashiru, the complainants.”
The offense violated Sections 411 and 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
Mr N A Layeni, the Chief Magistrate, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million, with three sureties in the same amount.
