Man Arrested For Killing, Burning His Mother In Sapele
Police operatives in Sapele, Delta State have arrested 25-year-old Emmanuel for allegedly killing his 53-year-old mother, known as “Mama Faith.”
The tragic incident took place on Saturday, September 7, 2024, when Emmanuel, reportedly battling mental health issues aggravated by substance abuse, attacked his mother with a newly purchased axe while his father was away at a burial in Imo State.
After killing her mother, Emmanuel dragged her body outside and set it on fire.
Neighbours alerted the police, and Emmanuel, who had fled the scene in his mother’s car, was later apprehended at Effurun Roundabout in Warri.
He was brought back to the Sapele Police Station, where his arrest was confirmed by local authorities.
The victim’s body has been deposited at Sapele Central Hospital.
While Delta State Police Command spokesman, Edafe Bright is yet to comment on the incident, a local pastor revealed that Emmanuel had previously undergone rehabilitation but had relapsed in recent times.
