Gunmen Abduct Makinde’s Ally, Akiika, In Ibadan

Gunmen on Wednesday night abducted a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), an ally of the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Chief Benedict Akiika, from his Ibadan home.

According to report, an unidentified person was shot dead during the incident at Idi Ape area of Olorunda Abaa in the Lagelu Local Government Area of the state.

As at the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of Akiika was yet unknown, but the Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction.

Akiika who is said to be a philanthropist is the founder of the Omituntun Benedict Foundation (OBF), that supported and worked for the election of Governor Makinde.

Confirming the abduction yesterday, the Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Adewale Osifeso, said investigation has commenced into the matter.

Osifeso, a Superintendent of Police, in a short statement said: “Investigation has commenced into the matter. Updates will be provided accordingly, please.”
