Abeokuta Mourns: 40-Day-Old Baby Murdered in Shocking Attack

Oke Keesi, Abeokuta – December 9, 2024 – A pall of grief and outrage has descended on the Oke Keesi Community in Abeokuta, Ogun State, following the tragic murder of a 40-day-old baby in a shocking incident that unfolded yesterday. Witnesses report that a suspected assailant entered the home through a window, cut the net, and brutally slaughtered the infant while the mother was preoccupied with household chores.

The harrowing incident occurred in the early afternoon, when the baby's mother stepped outside to spread washed clothes. It was during this brief moment that the unthinkable happened.

Eyewitnesses recounted hearing a commotion, only to discover the horrific scene moments later. Many residents were left in disbelief, grappling with the reality of such a heinous act taking place in their community.

Residents described the murder as an unimaginable tragedy, labeling it a "disastrous act" that has sent shockwaves through the community. They expressed their deep anger and concern over safety in the area, calling on the Nigeria Police Force to take swift action to apprehend the assailant and ensure justice is served. “This is a crime that goes beyond explanation,” one resident stated. “We need to feel safe in our homes, and those responsible must be brought to justice.”

As the community mourns the loss of the innocent life, local leaders and residents are demanding a thorough investigation. The police have been urged to increase patrols and security measures in the area to prevent future tragedies.

Attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola, for comments on the incident were unsuccessful, as her phone was reportedly not going through, possibly due to network issues. However, the community remains hopeful that the police will respond promptly to the situation.

As the investigation unfolds, the Oke Keesi Community stands united in their call for justice, mourning the loss of a child whose life was tragically cut short. The profound grief and anger felt by the residents highlight the urgent need for enhanced security measures and community support to ensure such an atrocity does not happen again.
